Mission

Mission:

HADEF is a US based non-profit (501c3) Organization whose aim is to improve the quality of life through improvement in health-care, education, environmental development, social and economic empowerment, as well as helping the East African community in Minnesota.

Vision:

Establish sustainable and community based educational systems. Improve the standards of education and health-care and sustainably develop the environment.

Eliminate illiteracy and improve education by working with local schools, parents, and other community based organizations that are engaged in the development of education.

Organize outreach services within the community to create awareness of the importance of education in socio-economic development of the community.

Provide tutoring services to immigrant children living in USA and organize counseling to those joining colleges in career development and accessing college funding.

Assist in education improvement in East African Communities by assisting them in accessing facilities, books, laboratory equipments and other educational supplies through liaison with US based Educational institutions.

Organize cultural and educational exchange program to promote friendly relations between US students and East African students living in Africa. Also help African students to secure scholarships and fellowships in US Universities and other developed countries.

Short- terms Goals:

• Provide clean drinking water
• Educate people on sanitation and its impact on the society
• Campaign for health care awareness such as HIV/Aids, Malaria, T.B. etc.

Long-term Goals

• Build educational facilities
• Construct Medical facilities
• Improve School curriculums
• Establish environmental policies that preserve the natural resources in the region
• Conserve the integrity of the land, water, air etc.
• Prevent the soil erosion and deforestation
• Establish a sustainable economic market-for both agriculture and animals   
• Promote agro forestry by promoting environmental awareness and by encouraging ways to improve reforestation of facilities
• Create and encourage the use of alternative and renewable energy sources instead of using charcoal for domestic use
• Improve and build a public school transportation system which is next to nonexistent at this time.
• Develop communication network such as telecommunication, post office and public facilities
• Build wells and irrigation systems
• Establish a sustainable energy resources
• Encourage land cultivation
• Introduce pest control programs
